Lee Westwood's England defeated Sergio Garcia's World side by 72-33 at the Reignwood Icons of Football last weekend in a sporting spectacle that saw the Icons Series reach new heights.

The two star-studded teams featured footballing icons who faced off over a 10-hole composite layout at the stunning Robinswood Golf Club in Bangkok, Thailand, in front of a global live TV audience and over 3000 spectators who braved the searing heat and humidity to watch their heroes in person.

Westwood's England starred the likes of John Terry, Paul Scholes, Robbie Fowler and Teddy Sheringham, while Garcia's World side was comprised of more giants of the football field such as Luis Figo, Ruud Gullit, Gabriel Batistuta and Gianfranco Zola.

"Reignwood Icons of Football was a special event where sports entertainment met authentic golf competition," said Jonathan Loosemore, Head of Golf Operations. "The sheer quality of the in-person experience at Robinswood combined with the attention it has received on a global scale can take the Icons Series to another level. Having all four sessions screened live not only added an extra edge for the players who were taken outside out of their comfort zone by swapping the football field for the golf course, but it escalates the commercial appeal for this fabulous concept."
