JDL Sports' Winter Series resumed this weekend with almost 1000 young players assembled at Fana's home ground for sixteen hours of football.
On Saturday, thirty 9 v 9 matches were played in overcast conditions and fine, icy rain for much of the day.
The December sun made an appearance during Sunday's seventy-eight matches in the 7 v 7 and 5 v 5 formats but temperatures hovered just above zero for much of the day.
"It is very rewarding to offer competitive training matches to so many young players during what is really Norway's off-season," said Jonathan Loosemore, the driving force behind the initiative in collaboration with Fana Football Club. "Many players are moving to a new format ahead of the next league season so the Winter Series provides invaluable learning. The players also train their resilience with full-length matches often in tough conditions."
The next Winter Series weekend is scheduled for January 11-12.
